Maybe she has a valid point - but without ordinary citizens having a direct say in decisions the political debate is giving too much importance to high profile celebrities from business, entertainment of sport.

Suing against prohibition of smoking in Restaurants
You may or may not like smoking but a blanked prohibition of smoking in Restaurants is not a democratic measure as there are other options to safeguard health. No one is forced to visit a Restaurant or Bar that allows unrestricted smoking. The same applies to staff. That courts will follow this misguided legislation just shows that they are far from independent and also subscribe to the statist philosophy that is behind our Pseudo Democracies.

How can we protest at the BBC's Remain Bias?
Piecemeal protests - and demonstrations on the streets - are not effective and to a large extent a waste of time. Only proper Direct Democracy is helping to allow citizens to voice their approval or disapproval in an efficient manner. If there would be a referendum about whether or not to maintain the BBC in its current form that would settle the argument in a proper fashion.

How to prevent Politicians to cash in on their name recognition
Examples such as Tony Blair or Nick Clegg illustrate the problem that well-known Politicians are reaping extraordinary rewards from positions they are offered after they leave office(or pushed out by the electorate). The solution must be that all Politicians should have a career outside Politics and only serve a limited time in office. In Ancient Rome the Consuls were elected for one year only and there was no renewal. In our time the details of government should be handled by experienced Civil Service. There is no need for a constant rotation of Ministers, Education one Day, Health the next Day etc. Governments are involved in way too many details of citizen's lives, less areas of responsibility should mean that the role of elected officials can well be handled on a part-time basis.

Petitions are fine, but....
Good luck to those who petition to stop Brexit. But however impressive the number may appear this is no way to run a proper (not pseudo) democracy. Emotional hype should not be able to demand petitions on a willy nilly basis. Either the instrument is a permanent fixture of the democratic system (as it should be) or it is an instrument for demagogues - however well meaing they might be.
Applied to Brexit it is not clear why there should be any attention paid to such petitions. The people have spoken in 2016. Many elections the world over are won on narrower margins. If anyone criticises the 2016 vote (insufficient quorum) the same could be said to the original decision to join the EEC or subsequent major changes in the EU's constitution.

More Top Down Politics from Macron
Some people may applaud Macron's initiative - but it also highlights what is wrong with present-day politics all over Europe, and in the the EU as well: Tinkering with election rules and preventing free speech is contrary what Dirdem stands for: more say for the citizens, less influence by establishment politicians and parties - and the lobbies that support them. And one final question: who pays for these advertisements that are nothing but propaganda to support the status-quo? (5-March-2019)

Meaningful Majorities in Referendum
40 years ago a referendum about whether or not to use Nuclear Energy was held in Austria. The power plant was practically ready to go into operation but anti-nuclear activists had backed the government into a corner. As a result it was decided to let the citizens have their say. The result was an extremely narrow majority (50.5%) in favour of not using the finished (!) power plant. This raises the question of what level the qualified majority should be - easy to answer in case of constitutional matters. But not so easy in all other decisions.

Supreme Court Nomination Circus
Do not know what happened decades ago but the problem with the US Supreme Court is that judges are unelected and only an expression of the preferences of a small number of politicians. At least their terms should be limited so that a healthy rotation is possible.
